A 1880ies
(does not list a exact date, but based on the kind of Bible and its
contents and engravings a date between 1880-1890 is very likely) Family
Pictorial Bible, Self-Pronouncing edition containing the Old
& New Testament in a verse-by-verse comparison between the
Authorized - King James - Version and the Revised Version. This clean
and attractive Bible is loaded with Biblical background information and
study-aids, including (as per the title pages): "A
complete concordance and the Psalms of David in Metre, copious
marginal references, chronological tables, and many important and
valuable aids to the study of the Holy Scriptures. Written to increase
the interest in and simplify the word of God." This
deluxe, Burgundy leather bound book has gilt lettering on the front, a
hubbed spine and gilt lettering on the spine. Numerous (full page)
illustrations (many from Gustave Doré) and some additional color
maps. The presentation page and the family pages have not been filled
out.

Tooled leather bound edition in
good condition. Edge wear, corner bump, rubbed and scuffed in places,
a few loose pages in the front. Otherwise okay. Approximately 10"
x 13" x 5" thick. The
book is solid and ready to be read and used. There is
no writing on of the pages, no ripped pages (a few rough paper
edges in the first pages) nor any staining or foxing, just a slight 'aging' of the paper.
A gorgeous antique family Bible!
