1880 Holman's Edition (Doré) Illustrated Antique Family Bible

An 1880 award winning Holman's (Gustave Doré) Illustrated Edition gold-decorated leather Bible with gold gilt pages and extensive study aids. Bible text of the (Authorized Version - King James) of the Old and the New Testament and Apocrypha. Numerous additional section like "history of the manuscript and early printed editions of the Holy Bible; biographical sketches of the translators and reformers; revelation, inspiration and authenticity of the Holy Scriptures; connected history of the Old and New Testaments; harmony of the four gospels" and much, much more. Also an extensive concordance, many (page full) illustrations and (color) maps.

This Bible is in an overall VERY GOOD condition. The Bible's binding, spine and cover have been very professionally restored and are absolutely solid. Usually with these antique Bibles you have to be very careful when opening the book, but this Bible is in such an excellent condition that you do not have to worry about that and you can use and read it as if it was brand new and not almost 150 years old. All pages seem to be present (apart from one of the pages in the family section). Also some pages have rough edges and an occasional small tear, apart from that we did not notice any problems nor foxing or water damages. The covers and spine show some age related scuffs. The family section contains entries (one page is missing). A large antique illustrated family Bible which will give you years of use!
