1879 Extra Fine Illustrated Embossed Antique Bible, Holman's Edition

A 1879 beautifully gold-decorated embossed (in an exceptional fine, bright and fresh shape) leather Bible, with numerous gorgeous (Gustave Doré illustrated) full page black and white engravings published by the award winning A.J. Holman from Philadelphia.. The pages have gilded edges. Besides a compete Authorized Version of the Old Testament plus the Apocrypha this Bible also includes: "an Introductory History of the Manuscript and Early printed editions of the Holy Bible; Revelation, Inspiration and Authenticity of the Holy Sciprtures, the comprehensive Pronouncing Bible Dictionary; The Books of the Bible: Biographical and Historical; a Chronological index to the Holy Bible; various Tables; Alphabetical Table of Proper Names; Concordance to the Old and New Testaments" and much more.

This Bible is in a overall VERY GOOD to EXCELLENT condition. The leather on the covers look fresh and the binding is tight. There is NO writing on any of the pages. There are NO ripped or missing pages, just a slight occasional 'aging' of the paper. There is very minor wear to the edges of the covers and areas on the leather. A real antique GEM!
