Published just after the Civil
War, a (looks-like) unused, extensively illustrated ("illustrated
with numerous descriptive engravings") Domestic Bible with a
beautiful gold decorated/embossed cover and gold gilt pages. The cover
depicts (in gold) the creation and a imprint of the name of A. Herbst.
The Bible has many in-text engravings and (as per the title page):
"notes, reflections, questions, improved readings, improved
divisions of chapter, the chronological order, metrical portion
distinguished and various other advantages without disturbing the
usual order of the books, verses and chapters by the Rev. Ingram
Cobbin, M.A.". The is a nice family section (unused, so not
filled out!)

This
Bible is in a overall almost EXCELLENT (pristine) condition. It
can be used and opened easily (as a daily reader) as its bindings and the
spine/covers have been
professionally restored. There is NO writing on any of the
pages. There are NO ripped or missing pages. A few age related spots, but
overall very clean. There is
some very slight wear to the edges of the covers but even the gold
around the edges is very well preserved. An
Antique Family Bible ready for many generations.
