A
1884 beautifully gold-decorated embossed (in
an exceptional fine, bright and fresh shape) leather
parallel Bible, with numerous gorgeous
(Gustave Doré illustrated) full page black and white (and some color
pages and maps) engravings
published by Chandler Bros, Rockford, Illinois. The
pages have gilded edges. Besides a parallel presentation of the
complete texts of the Authorized Version and Revised Version it also
present the text of the Apocrypha and includes:
"a complete Concordance; a history of ancient Biblical
manuscripts; the earliest printed editions of the Bible; a history of
the revision of the Bible etc." and much more. The
family pages preserve the history of the Cavett and Woody family of
Monroe, Iowa.

This
Bible is in a overall GOOD - VERY GOOD condition. The leather on
the covers look fresh and very well taken care of with minimal light
wear to the hinges. The binding is still tight but as it is old it
requires the Bible to be handled/opened/closed with care! There is NO writing on
the pages (except the family pages). There are NO ripped or missing
pages, just a slight occasional 'aging' of the paper. There is some minor wear to the edges of the covers and areas on the leather.
