A gorgeous and very attractive - with unused family record pages - Roman Catholic - Douay Rheims - antique family Bible with an exquisite decorative cover which consists of thick leather covered boards embossed and with intricate artwork (with scenes of the Bible), a (gold gilt) cross and Bible related decorations. Gold gilt pages. On the spine in gold letter the text "Holy Bible - Douay & Rheims" and "Rev Geo Leo Haydock's Notes and References - Illustrated" is written. The text of this Bible is the so called Douay-Rheims Bible (or Doway Rheims Bible or D-R Bible), which is an English translation from the Latin Vulgate ("... diligently compared with the Hebrew, Greek and Other Editions in Divers Languages ... with useful notes, critical, historical, controversial and explanatory ... by the late Rev.
