ca 1881 Extensively (Gustave Dore) Illustrated Explanatory Family Bible

Large and extensively illustrated Explanatory Family Bible , including numerous full page Gustave Dore engravings, chromolithographs (color engravings) and color maps. This 'coffee-table (folio) size' and 'loaded' Family Bible has intricate gold-embedded decorated covers and spine, all with the gold-letter text "Holy Bible", "Bible Dictionary and Cities of the Bible". Gold gilt pages. The Bible text is the King James/Authorized Version for the Old and New Testament and the Apocrypha.

This Bible is in a GOOD to VERY GOOD and USABLE condition. Binding is fine but handle with care (we did not restore the binding of this Bible). Beginning of a crack at the hinge of the spine with the front cover. Typical wear for its age. Corners are rubbed. No writings, typical browning of paper, some foxing.
